Did you know August marks National Wellness Month? A time to focus on self-care, managing our stress levels and promoting healthy routines. Whether you're heading out or staying in now that restrictions are starting to ease, discover five simple steps you can take to help look after your emotional and physical wellbeing.

01. Exercise outdoors

Connect with Nature

If the last year has taught us anything, it's the importance of spending time in nature. In fact, studies have shown embracing the outdoors can help to reduce our stress levels, improve our mood and help us feel more energised. From a walk or gentle jog in the park to turning your hand to gardening, the possibilities are endless. Try a few different activities and discover what works best for you... you might be surprised at your newfound favourite hobby!

02. Drink More Water

Healthy body, healthy mind

Keeping ourselves hydrated is key to keeping a clear head. Not only this, regularly drinking water can help to improve our concentration levels, help us feel less tired and boost our mood. Try to aim for around 6-8 glasses of water and other liquids a day, including sugar-free tea or herbal tea, and see if you notice a difference.

03. Make Time For Yourself

Take a Moment to Relax & Reset

It's easy for life to get in the way sometimes, but it's important to remember to take a moment for yourself. Whether it's curling up with a good book and a scented candle, cooking yourself a nutritious meal, a warming bath and an early night or simply taking a few deep breaths whenever we feel overwhelmed, practicing self care is a crucial step towards looking after our wellbeing.

04. Call a Loved One

Enjoy a quick catch up

Friends and family play an important role in our overall wellbeing, so taking 5 minutes out of our day for a quick check in is a brilliant way to boost our mood and stay connected with loved ones. What's more, with restrictions beginning to ease, you might even be able to plan a socially distanced catch-up in the near future!

05. Monitor Your Sleep Levels

Reduce stress and boost your mood

We all know the difference a good night's sleep can make to our mood, but creating a regular bedtime routine is much easier said than done! From reading before bed to spending less time on social media, trying to make adjustments to create better sleep habits is another step you can take to improving your overall wellbeing.

For something a little more luxurious, try massaging one of our nourishing Body Lotions onto arms and legs before bed.
