With more and more emphasis on self care and pressure to be the best version of yourself, it's important to harmonise the mind and body. Our top wellness tips will help you stay grounded this National Wellness Month.
What is Wellness?
The World Health Organization (WHO) describe wellness as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.". For many years if you were physically healthy with no illnesses then you were considered to be working at your best, however we now understand this isn't the case and we need to take care of our mental wellbeing as well as physical.
Understanding wellness is just the beginning. We've compiled some steps you can try to boost your wellbeing and improve your overall wellness.
1. Reframe your thoughts
We can all have our negative thoughts that bring you down, but sometimes you can reframe these into something positive. For example, if you have a problem at work and the stress is weighing on your mind, you could try and view it more as a challenge to beat! It can be tricky to recognise your unhelpful thoughts and behaviours so try make a list of all the things that are on your mind and start small. Over time it should become easier to view these issues with a positive spin.
2. Get a good night's sleep
Catching enough Zzz's is extremely important in both physical and mental wellness. Without the recommended hours, you can begin to feel fatigued, irritable and sluggish throughout the day - which doesn't help your mood and reduces brain-power.
If you struggle to relax and unwind before bed after a stressful day then you might find the introduction of Calm helpful. Simply wash the day away with our Body Wash or nourish your skin with our Hand & Body Lotion and allow the functional fragrance of Lavender & Chamomile soothe your body and soul. The purpose of this collection isn't to overcomplicate your life so if you feel you just need a little piece of Calm, try our Pulse Point Oil just before bed to help you drift off.
3. Do something just for you
Sometimes we do so much for others but forget to take care of number one... you! Think about things you've always wanted to do, maybe it's something exhilarating like skydiving, or maybe you take the cooking class you always wanted to take or you want to get completely lost in a book. Whatever your something might be, make sure you find a way to focus on you.
4. Live a healthy life
Being active and eating the right foods can have a big impact on your overall wellbeing. Studies show exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, improving self-esteem and cognitive function - which will allow you to get the most out of your day. Cutting out bad habits like smoking and reducing your caffeine and alcohol levels can also have a positive impact on your mood.
If you're looking for a little boost - try our Awaken Expression. The functional fragrance of Mint & Eucalyptus creates a feeling of strength and energy - a great way to boost your wellbeing. Simply shower with our Body Wash and lock in moisture with our Hand & Body Lotion and see your energy levels improve.
5. Be in the present
Taking in the world around us is a great step towards improving overall wellness. Becoming more mindful can bring a new sense of life to your daily routine by noticing everything you take for granted. This doesn't need to be something big, it can be as small as the feeling of your hands in warm water as you wash the dishes, or the smell of the air on a warm evening.

The ARRAN Naturals collection is about adding touches of wellbeing to a daily routine without having to take any additional steps so simply add in our products throughout the day and our functional fragrance will do the rest.
