Reducing Single-Use Plastics

By Kira Kemlo

5 Min Read

Up to 10 million plastic bottles used for liquid soaps and hand sanitisers were found in UK landfill, a number which even with frequent hand washing over the past few years, is a shockingly high number. On top of this, over 300 million tonnes of plastic are created every year, with half being single use only. These numbers have have inspired us to change the way we operate.

Our packaging partners have actively pioneered the use of sustainable materials for the benefit of our customers, from post-consumer recycled solutions to the latest advances in bioplastics. All of our plastic bottles are now made from Prevented Ocean Plastic, diverting over 1000 tonnes of plastic from entering the ocean every month.

What is Prevented Ocean Plastic?

It is recycled plastic made from discarded plastic bottles found and collected within 50km (30 miles) of an ocean coastline or major waterway that feeds into the ocean. The regions most exposed to ocean plastic waste are overwhelmed by population growth or tourism and lack waste management infrastructure and collection incentives which exposes their ecosystems and wildlife to the risk of ocean plastic contamination.
